Lyn Tattum is Vice President, Head of Events, Training, and Media, at S&P Global Commodity Insights and Publisher of Chemical Week

She has a degree in Politics and Economics from the University of Manchester and briefly studied at the Sorbonne, Paris, and at the British Film Institute, London. She has also worked at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna. She was chair of the London-based African film festival, Africa at the Pictures.

Lyn’s early career was as a journalist, publisher, writer, and interviewer in the global chemical Industry. She has travelled extensively and is well known within the international chemical and plastics industry, interviewing CEOs, chairing conferences and roundtables, and regularly attending global industry events, where she has pioneered discussions on Sustainability, ESG and Diversity.

During her career as Publisher of Chemical Week magazine and later as Vice President at IHS Markit, Lyn has launched and expedited chemical industry events in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Dubai, Prague, Berlin, Warsaw, Brussels, London, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, New York City, Houston, among other locations.

Recently she launched The Chemical Leadership Circle to connect industry CEOs worldwide with critical information, providing an opportunity to network, raise awareness of key issues - including a need for greater diversity - and exchange ideas at a time of critical global change in economy, politics, society and business.

    Following a synchronized rise in policy rates, growth is now unsynchronized across major economies. The U.S. is outperforming whereas in Europe activity is flat. The common macro thread comprises strong labor markets and spending on services, fiscal tailwinds, and lingering core price pressures. Inflation has likely peaked as have policy rates, but central banks are on guard against declaring victory too early. Our higher-for-longer view applies both to policy rates and market interest rates, real and nominal. Caution among developed market central banks is constraining potential rate cuts in emerging markets. The next macro challenge is to "stick the landing." The risks to our soft-landing baseline look balanced. Strong labor markets and fiscal tailwinds are driving the upside, whereas uncertainties about the lagged transmission of cumulative rate hikes since early 2022 are driving the downside.
