Exploring Opportunities for LATAM while working on Net Zero Targets

Friday, 24 March

9:20 am - 9:40 am (CST) / 24/mar/2023 02:20 pm - 24/mar/2023 02:40 pm

The Petrochemical Industry in Latin America has not reported significant growth in production capacity since the early 90s. However, demand for petrochemicals and end use products, in a region with growing population, is reporting significant growth. Hence, the dilemma of how to supply a growing petrochemical demand while meeting net zero targets. We believe, there is a new window of opportunity for LATAM petrochemical industry while working on energy transition. These opportunities will require investments in R&D to better utilize waste generated in different industries throughout the region. We believe, hydrocarbons will continue to support the industry, however, it will require additional CAPEX to capture CO2 in the process. Meanwhile, clean energy and green petrochemicals will continue to grow and so will investments in this development. Opportunities for investments in Latin America continue to grow while the industry works to reduce CO2 emissions.
