Boudewijn van Lent is the Global Chemical Industry Director for dss+, a world-class operations management consulting firm.
In his role, Boudewijn advises chemical companies, both in the U.S. and internationally, on developing and implementing solutions to maximize existing assets and resources, mitigate risk, drive continuous innovation, embed sustainability into operations and use digitalization concepts to drive decisions regarding operational improvements.
Boudewijn has 25+ years’ experience in the chemical industry and 5+ years in organizations supporting the chemical and broader process industry. He has held numerous executive roles prior to joining dss+. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Management of the Specialty Construction Chemicals business of GCP Applied Technologies. He championed the redesign of the organization, thereby strengthening the market position and profitability through a sustainability strategy during the global COVID pandemic business lockdowns.
As CEO of Bilfinger's Industrial Services, Inc., a subsidiary of the German engineering and services firm, Boudewijn designed and executed a business transformation by leveraging organizational capability, strengthening resources, instilling cultural change, developing joint global market approaches and M&A strategy.
Boudewijn has led operational improvements, organizational redesign and business transformation throughout his career at companies including Rhein Chemie Corporation, Lanxess Corporation and Bayer. He also applied his knowledge of operations transformation as Vice President, Business Development of the North American Chemical Sector for Celerant Consulting between 2009 and 2011. He significantly expanded the operational management consulting firm's presence in the U.S. chemical sector by establishing proactive client relationships.
Currently based in the U.S., Boudewijn has lived in Germany and Canada in previous roles and has served clients globally. Fluent in English, German, and Dutch, Boudewijn earned his Ph.D. in Physical and Colloid Chemistry, and his M.Sc. in Molecular Science from the University of Wageningen in The Netherlands. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He has authored numerous technical articles and presented at industry conferences.
