President and CEO

Phil McDivitt is president and chief executive officer of Ascend Performance Materials, a fully integrated producer of engineered materials and performance chemicals. Ascend’s chemical intermediates, specialty chemicals and polyamides help make safer vehicles, cleaner energy, better medical devices, smarter appliances and longer-lasting apparel and consumer goods. McDivitt joined Ascend in 2015 and became chief executive officer in 2017. Under McDivitt’s leadership, Ascend has achieved record financial performance, strong environmental, health and safety performance, and an expanded reach into local communities through the Ascend Cares Foundation. Prior to joining Ascend, McDivitt spent over 27 years with Celanese Corporation in various business leadership roles in the chemicals and engineered materials spaces. During his time at Celanese, McDivitt also sat on joint venture boards in both Europe and Asia. McDivitt serves on the boards of Ascend Performance Materials, the TPC Group, the American Chemistry Council and the Ascend Cares Foundation. McDivitt earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Texas A&M University and currently sits on the department’s advisory council. He received his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas.
